02EngagementProduction Build
From definition to production.
A build is where advice gets tested. I define acceptance criteria with you, design the architecture, and lead the implementation personally. Senior Cult of Coders engineers join when the scope needs more hands.
- Shape
- Scoped build: one workflow or system
- Format
- Theo leads; a small senior team implements
- You leave with
- A running system, documented, in your team’s hands
01 — The problem
Production is where pilots go to die
Closing the gap between a working demo and a trusted system takes evaluation, monitoring, cost control, security, and a handover that leaves your team able to run the thing. Those parts get discovered late when nobody owns them from the start.
- The prototype impresses in demos and misbehaves on real data.
- Nobody knows what it costs to run at ten times the traffic.
- The people who built the demo have already moved on.
02 — What you get
A system your team can operate without me
I stay on the critical path: the architecture, the hard parts of the implementation, and the review of everything that ships. Cult of Coders engineers fill out the build where volume helps. The system is done when your team can run it — not when ours stops billing.
- Acceptance criteria agreed before the build starts
- Architecture designed for the stack and team you already have
- Evaluation suite, monitoring, and cost controls — quality measured, not assumed
- Security addressed in the design review, not retrofitted
- Documentation and handover sessions until your team owns the system
03 — How it runs
Define
Scope, constraints, and the acceptance criteria the system will be judged against. Written down, agreed, fixed.
Architect
The design decisions that are expensive to change, made early and reviewed with your leads.
Build
Implementation in visible increments. You see running software early, not a reveal at the end.
Harden
Evaluation, monitoring, cost controls, and security review before real traffic touches the system.
Hand over
Documentation and working sessions with your engineers, until they own the system without us.

Builds follow the discipline of systems shipped before: an analytics platform that outran the client’s managed warehouse, and a legal-tech platform with tenant isolation designed in from the first schema. Baselines and measured results are in the work section.
05 — Straight answers
Do you work alongside our engineers?
Yes, and it is the default. I lead the architecture and the critical path, your engineers stay close to the build, and the handover starts long before launch.
Can you start from our existing prototype?
Often. Sometimes the right move is to keep the evaluation data and rewrite the plumbing; sometimes the pilot is closer to production than the team believes. You get that call in the first week, in writing.
How do you keep operating costs from exploding?
Budgets are set before the build, and the system is designed to meet them — model selection, caching, batching, alerting on spend. Cost is an acceptance criterion, not a surprise at the first invoice.
A system earns trust in production, not in the demo.
